KAMPALA, UGANDA- Edward Golooba was elected the new President of the Uganda Society of Architects after defeating Jancita Kabarungi in an election that took place over the weekend at the magnificent Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala.
Golooba, an Architect with Geopoka Associates garnered 48 votes over Kabarungi’s 36 to be declared the President of Architects in Uganda for the next two years. Kabarungi was the vice President in the old regime.
“We shall make sure that Architects earn big and love their job. We have a problem of people who claim to be architects and provide architects’ work. In my term as President, I will try to stop this,” said Golooba during a dinner that was sponsored by Sadolin Paints.
Deon Nieuwoudt, the Planning and Execution Manager at the Dutch based AkzoNobel Coatings International BV, which owns the Sadolin brand name in Uganda, said it was the first time they sponsored this event as Akzo Nobel.
He said they don’t allow lead or cobalt in all materials they produce, keeping the society free from cancer.
Sadolin Paints Uganda Limited promised to invest over $3million in their Namanve plant.
